BrewDog Releases their DIY Dog Guide on Brewing their Beers

The Scottish mad scientists James and Martin over at BrewDog have once again proved why they are leading the charge in the craft beer movement.  Today they have released an incredibly well written catalog that lists every beer and it's recipe that they have ever brewed.  We are talking about well over 200 different beers!  It's like the Colonel letting us know what the 11 herbs and spices are, or Coca Cola dropping it's secret recipe on us.  Hell it's a lot better than either of those, have a look for yourself.

It actually goes beyond just listing their recipes and a great manifesto.  The well designed PDF they released DIY DOG was clearly well thought out and planned. They go into great detail on all aspects of their brews and include little snippets like

and include details on the all grain brewing process.

Ever wanted to know the secrets to the worlds strongest beer, The Tactical Nuclear Penguin?  Well it's in here!Brewdog Recipe for Tactical Nuclear Penguin

While they are not the first major craft brewer to pull back the curtain on their beers, as Stone Brewing has done for the their Vertical Epic Series, they are the first that I know of to share their entire catalog and in such well laid out detail.  At least for a brewery that is currently pushing over 100,000 barrels of the hoppy stuff.

However these recipes are not for everyone.  Here's a little warning they include...

"Oh, and if you are from one of the global beer mega corporations and you are reading this, your computer will spontaneously combust, James Bond style, any second now. So leave the building immediately and seriously consider your life choices."

So in a time that so many moves are being made by the major players that some say will ultimately hurt the craft beer industry, these two home brewers on steroids have given to the community.  Their only request is for lovers of the craft to "copy them, tear them to pieces, bastardise them, adapt them and most of all enjoy them."

I think today I will go out of my way to find myself some Brewdog and toast to James, Martin along with the rest of BrewDog, but not a Tactical Nuclear Penguin, that beer will mess you up!

Cheers,

Jeremy
